The Erba EM 200 biochemistry analyzer runs the MultiXL software on a Windows PC and sends results to the LIS over TCP/IP or RS-232 in ASTM format. When QC results stop arriving at the LIS or at QC middleware, the cause is nearly always one of four things.
1. Check the host connection settings
In MultiXL open Settings → Host Setting. Confirm the mode (TCP/IP or RS-232C), the IP address and port of the LIS PC, and that both Send Patient Result To Host and Send Control Result To Host are ticked. If the control box is unticked, QC is kept on the analyzer and never sent. Note that the buttons on this screen are greyed out while a run is in progress.
2. Confirm the link is live
Click Check Connection. If it fails, the LIS program on the other PC is not running or the port is blocked. On the LIS PC, check that the receiving program (or the QCnomics Analyzer Bridge service) shows Started in services.msc. A service that will not start with error 1053 usually means another copy of the program is already holding the port, or the PC is running an operating system the software no longer supports.
3. Do not clear the result queue
MultiXL keeps unsent results in a queue and sends them when the link returns. The Clear Result Queue button deletes them. Leave it alone unless support asks for it.
4. Resend a day's QC
Open QC/Calibration (F5) → Data, select the date and the tests, and use the transmit option to send them again. The LIS or middleware will post them under the original run time, not the resend time, if it reads the observation time from the message (QCnomics does).
